Dave started his working career as a bellman in a Marriott hotel in New York. He rose through the ranks quickly and eventually became a leader with Marriott’s corporate housing division.
His consulting career began when he took a position with The Concord Companies as a strategist and General Manager. In that role he specialized in leading several firms through the start-up process and in turning around distressed businesses—quickly.
In April 2002 Dave was recruited to work with The Gallup Organization to develop innovative solutions for the firm’s clients. During his time with Gallup, Dave’s consulting teams added over $250 million in value to dozens of large multi-national firms. This value came from true organic growth—actual changes in business strategy that lead to rapid revenue and profit improvement.
Today, as the leader of his own firm, Dave focuses on helping individual attorneys and law firms make more money in an effective and efficient way. This means improving the quality of your life while building a successful law firm.
Dave received his MBA from the Lubin School of Business at Pace University where he graduated at the top of his class and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma Honor Society.
He also holds a Masters of Science in Strategic Communications from Columbia University in New York City.
Dave Lorenzo was a non-lawyer member of the Florida Bar Eleventh Circuit Grievance Committee from August 2010 through July 2013.

David Lorenzo originally went to college to study Hotel Restaurant Institutional Management. He worked his way through school as a Bellman, Front Desk Clerk, Telephone Operator, Security Guard and Concierge for a local Marriott hotel.
Upon graduation from Johnson and Wales University in 1989, Dave continued working for Marriott where he held the unglamorous positions of: Restaurant Manager, Catering Service Manager, Housekeeping Manager and eventually Assistant General Manager and General Manager.
After six years with Marriott, Dave was recruited to join The Concord Companies. This was a hotel company that specialized in purchasing distressed properties and converting them into viable assets by rebranding them as Marriott Hotels. During his time with Concord, Dave helped open six new hotels in challenging economic conditions.
Dave Lorenzo returned to Marriott in 1998 to start up its Corporate Housing brand in New York City. In this role he negotiated over $100 million in Real Estate transactions, managed a team of over 220 associates and was responsible for a business that produced revenue in excess of $50 million. He also served as an internal consultant working on labor relations issues.
After being profiled as one of New York’s rising stars in 2001, Dave was recruited by The Gallup Organization to lead a business strategy consulting team in New York. He returned to college and earned an MBA from Pace University and a Master of Science Degree from Columbia University.
In 2005, while still working with Gallup, Dave began conducting informal workshops with business owners on weekends. While the compensation for this work was nominal (sometimes there was no compensation) he found it rewarding. This led him to formalize his coaching process and start a business coaching entrepreneurs.
While business owners in many different types of companies were successful in using Dave’s systems, attorneys seemed to get better results than anyone else. The systems that Dave developed filled in the business gaps for the attorneys. Dave was providing the information that they were not taught in law school.
This is the point where Rainmaker Lawyer Consulting was born. In 2007 Dave Lorenzo’s part time business shifted from helping all entrepreneurs to only working with attorneys. Then in October 2008, Gallup and Lorenzo finally parted company (with acrimony and without fanfare).
As of May 2013, Rainmaker Lawyer Consulting has provided guidance and support for 392 lawyers in 11 countries. The business continues to grow and evolve with the needs of its clients.
