We see them all the time. An internet bio or an “about us” page that is loaded with exaggerations, half truths and approximations.
Most people do not think twice when the revise history in their on line biography. They take it as an accepted practice. Accepted because “everyone does it”.
Everyone doesn’t do it.
Lying is wrong.
But you knew that. Your parents taught you that when you were a little kid. They told you that when you were sworn in as a lawyer.
Yet somewhere down the line, many people thought it was a good idea to stretch, bend or even totally disregard the truth.
Use this article as your wake up call.
Check your bio on line. Check all the places where information about you appears. Do everything you can to make sure it is accurate.
Tell the truth.
If you don’t, you will regret it.
